The title reflects the bringing together of a number of musicians who were part of Wagner’s circle and who in various ways helped to perpetuate his legacy so far as the piano is concerned. Wagner’s music transfers extremely well to the medium of the piano and has a natural affinity with the piano’s capacity for both orchestral and vocal textures. The transcribers and composers here were part of the Wagner circle and sometimes also his household. I have also included several works written in memory of Wagner by Liszt and Bruckner.
